During the summer, Avalon's Jr. Explorers (ages Pre-K through 5th grade) are studying Dangerous Journey, an adaptation of Pilgrim's Progress for children on video. The nine week study will go through the summer and into September.
The story is an allegorical dream vision of the travels of a man named Christian with a heavy burden strapped on his back. He flees from his home in the City of Destruction, finds deliverance from his guilt and sin at the cross, journeys on to the Heavenly City, and meets exciting challenges all along the way.
Dangerous Journey is more than an adventure story. The characters, places, and events portray spiritual truths and challenges. Avalon Explorers will discover hidden meanings about these spiritual truths and discover that Christian's journey is the journey through life that all of us are on when we try to follow God.
