Pastor Jim - Interim Pastor
Pastor Jim is currently serving as our Interim Pastor at Avalon Presbyterian Church. He and his wife Carole have been happily married for nearly 24 years and make their home in Oviedo, Florida.
In 1997, Jim helped Dr. Jack L. Arnold launch the ministry of Equipping Pastors International. From the beginning, Jim has been involved with the ministry of EPI and has traveled annually equipping pastors from all over the world. In 2008 Jim accepted a call to go fulltime with EPI. His vision is to equip pastors in North Africa and the Middle East where Islam is firmly entrenched. This region was once the intellectual and theological capital of the Christian world, and Jim desires to see its true Christian heritage recovered. Since January 2009 Jim has served as the Missionary Coordinator for Equipping Pastors International.
Jim is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America, and prior to coming full-time with EPI, was Senior Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Oviedo, Florida where he served for twelve years. Jim also served in his Presbytery as the Chairmen of the Minister and His Work Committee for nearly ten years. He has over 20 years experience in pastoral ministry. Jim has also been active teaching on college campuses for more than twelve years. He teaches Humanities at Valencia Community College, and has also taught courses in World Religions, Bible, Philosophy of Religion, and History at Florida Southern and Belhaven College.
Jim studied at Berklee College of Music, the State University of New York in New Paltz, the University of Florida, and Logos Bible College. He holds a B.A. in Biblical Studies and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary.
